KFC Hot Devil Drumlets

I bought a Cheesy Meltz Set and alacarte new Hot Devil Drumlets takeaway...and when I went home, my Hot Devil Drumlets was missing! So 2 days later, I went back to claim back my Hot Devil Drumlets. Its $3.75 for 3 small drums lor, so expensive, of course must get back! The staff reluctantly gave me the drumlets, and said in chinese "next time need to check hor.." Siao!
I immediate said, "You next time need to pack all the stuff properly, it's not I check!" She gave me an embarrassed smile. Crazy, you never pack properly it's my fault ah? Due to my gracious character these days, I did not pursue further. I would have complained to HQ if this happened in the past. These days I am very forgiving...haha

KFC Hot Devil Drumlets ($3.75, 3 small drums). 2 flavours available, BBQ and Thai. I chose BBQ.

TASTE: 3.5/5 (Seasoning/Spice not very strong...may be too mild for spicy lovers)
VALUE: 2.5/5 (Too ex, each small drum costs $1.25!)

HANABI at Odeon Towers

On Saturday night, I went to HANABI at Odeon Towers with a group of 'Sungei Gedong Camp' friends. Great to catch up with you all! Remembering the times, everybody was just worried about "what's my detail tmr?", "how long is it? 3d2n or 5d4n?", counting down to the ORD date was just the aim. But now? Everybody is discussing about schooling or work, and are still as tired and stressed...relax man...

HANABI serves Japanese alacarte buffet at $33+++. After all the rubbish charges, it is $39 per person.
1) The food there was at best mediocre.  The chicken wings(recommended in the menu) is so salty and dry. Maybe this place is worth it only if you dare to eat sashimi(I don't take).
2) And there's basically no service. It's really hard to catch a staff to place an order. And even if you manage to place an order, half the orders do not come.
3) It is too expensive for the value i am getting.
I don't understand why is the restaurant packed when we went...I rather pay more to go to a hotel and eat buffet if I really want to spend such an amount.

Seared Salmon with black pepper. I did not eat it as I don't take raw food.

Chawamushi...one of the more eatable dishes..
TASTE: 3/5 (Soft and smooth)

Very mediocre Tofu.
TASTE: 3/5 (Too bland and boring)

Eel Hotpot Rice
TASTE: 3.5/5 (The rice is just plain rice with the eel soy sauce. Can be better)

Handrolls! There's prawn handroll, spider(soft shell crab) handroll, and another one I forgot.
TASTE: 3.5/5 (The seaweed is crispy when served, good! However, ingredients are too little. The prawn was like less than half a piece. Don expect me to eat so much rice when I am paying close to $40!)

Will I go back again?: NOPE! It's totally not worth it as I don't take sashimi.
This is the 2nd time I went this yr(1st time at the Bt Timah outlet). Conclusion is that both outlets are of the same standard, mediocre. Will go back if it's free, HA!

Shokudo at Raffles City

Photobucket
On Thurs after my lessons, I went to have dinner with my my cousin and a friend! At Shokudo at Raffles City. Shokudo is like a Japanese version of Marche in Vivocity(Or Village in Heeren), which u get a card when u enter the restaurant. There are many many stations offering different dishes inside, and you order what u want and pass them your card. You pay only after you finish your meal and pass the card to the cashier.

At the front of the picture, is the Pork Asparagus Stick ($2.50++).
TASTE: 3/5 (Plain and dry, ordinary)
VALUE: 3.5/5 (Not too expensive, can try if you want)

Behind it is actually Japanese Omelette with Cuttlefish Flakes ($3.50++). The picture doesn't justify the omelette, it looks much better in real life. It's really thick and juicy, mixed with the mayonnaise and flakes, yummy! It's similar to those egg you see on top of sushi, but tastier and juicier...$3.50 is reasonable too!
TASTE: 4/5 (Yummy!)
VALUE: 4/5 ($3.50 only! Worth it!)

Photobucket
Ebi & Bacon Wasabi Mayo Cheese Pizza ($8.80++)! The crust is biscuit-thin, and I really mean those super thin biscuit. I didn't really like it...the cheese is too little, and I don't like Wasabi taste. The portion is quite small, a bit expensive ($10+ aft service charge & gst)...
TASTE: 3/5 (Pretty plain and boring)
VALUE: 3/5 (Expensive for such a thin and small pizza)

Photobucket
Mentaiko Omu Fried Rice ($8.80++). I didn't order this dish, my friend did. I tried a little, tastes pretty good! Fried rice is fluffy and fragrant, specially 'tanpanyaki-fried' by the chef only when we placed the order.
TASTE: 4/5 (Very good according to 2 of my friends.)
VALUE: 4/5 (Not too ex)

My bill came to $17.40 (Pizza+PorkStick+Omelette...high protein low carb)...quite ex.
But considering that it is/has...
1) Situated in prime area
2) Lavish decor
3) Large variety of Japanese food
4) New/Innovative concept (There's even Neoprint machines inside the restaurant!)
WOULD I GO BACK AGAIN? : Yes. Will try the other dishes next time!

OVERALL TASTE: 3.5/5 (If you are looking for really good Jap food, go to other restaurants.)
VALUE: 3.5/5 (OK considering it's a restaurant in prime location)
This is not a place to looking for the best tasting Japanese food. But it has a large and interesting variety. Great if you are a large group of people, or in a family. Take a neoprint after your meal! It's good to have a new dining experience sometimes...(but not everytime)...

PATCHI CIGARS

A packet of Cigars...from S'pore

5 in a packet, $10 from Patchi at Takashimaya Basement.

Looking at the the back of the box for ingredients, "milk chocolate 100%...cocoa solids 42% minimum..."

TASTE: 4/5 (Good chocolate, very thick and smooth. But a little too sweet)
VALUE FOR MONEY: 3/5 (It's very expensive for five hollow chocolate cigar sticks at $10. But I don't see any cigar chocolate in any other brands. Considered value for money as there's no exact substitutes, and it's cheaper than Godiva, unless u don't mind a box of malaysian Cadbury)
WOULD I BUY IT AGAIN: Nope. I got this using my Taka voucher and I don't have anymore!

MOF at Bugis Junction

I went for dinner at MOF (Ministry of Food) at Bugis Junction last Sat. I think this noodle is called Tam-Tam noodle. Below $10! I didnt eat this, mine was tempura bento. But i tried the soup, pretty good, has a unique sesame oil taste!

Surf 'N' Turf at Funan, Fortunate Restaurant & WALL-E!

What did I do today?

10.50am-4pm---IN SCHOOL. During break, I ordered Lobster Bisque Set ($5.35), with small piece of waffle and a cup of iced tea from Waffle Cottage. Nothing fantastic, nothing to mention about.

4pm-6pm---Went to Surf 'N' Turf at FUNAN to eat with my classmates.

Surf 'N' Turf is an american seafood and steak place...when we went in, we were the only ones in the restaurant..
We ordered Flower Crab Bisque ($4.90), Calamari ($9.90) and Steak ($10-Special Discount with purchase of sides), and the bill came to abt $30 after a little discount using credit card. Not too bad. Shall only feature on the soup since the rest is ordinary.

Flower Crab Bisque Bowl ($4.90). Pretty big bowl, the larger one is available at a dollar more. It's great, chunks of crab meat inside. Broth is not too thick, and the crab taste is strong. Good for sharing!
TASTE: 4/5 (Can be better, doesn't taste fresh enough)
PRICE: 3.5/5 (A bit pricey for soup)

7pm-11pm---10-COURSE DINNER at Fortunate Restuarant in International Building (Orchard). It's my Grandma's BD! Had a great time catching up with my cousins!!!

1145pm-1.30am---WALL-E MOVIE!!! Ordered 1 Cheesy Hotdog ($1), some popcorn, and a JASMINE BUBBLE TEA ($1.90) from Each-A-Cup to go along with the movie. The bubble tea is not bad, and can bring into the cinema! First time I know can bring bubble tea into cinema, why Lido so special ah?! I am going Lido for movie next time man.

WALL-E is very good!!!
RATING: 4/5 (Go Catch It!)
I like the part where all the people living in the other planet are so fat and just talk and eat non-stop! They don't even need to move to get food and their aim in life is just to eat and talk and shop! Isn't this what everybody wants??
I never really like watching animations in movies...thought I wouldn't really like this either...but I was proven wrong.

I realized I spent half of my day today eating...wah wallet got one hole ah. Nevertheless, it's fulfilling!

1ST POST

My FIRST POST on 09-09-08!
This blog is officially created on the 9th Sept, 2008! 09-09-08, nice number! CopyCow is derived from copycat..haha...it's hard to find a nick that's not taken yet!

Why did I create this blog?
I need a place to store my thoughts and views on things/issues. I also want to come back here 5 years later and read the posts I put up years ago. To know if I have changes in my thinking or the way I do things!'

What will be on my blog?
CopyCow will be a light-hearted blog. I will try not to put up too much rants, complaints, etc...instead, CopyCow will be overloaded with pictures, food reviews and exciting stuff that I come across!

Thanks for visiting!
